The role of the Texas Fire Service Instructor includes many responsibilities and challenges. It is our belief that many individuals in this field are making a positive impact on the safety of their communities, as well as reaching out to others around the State of Texas and beyond.
The Texas Association of Fire Educator's goal and motto is "To Promote Education in the Fire Service in the State of Texas".
Each year the Texas Association of Fire Educators honors two instructors who have offered exemplary contributions toward that goal. These two instructors are honored at our Annual Instructors Conference each January.
The first Instructors Conference was held in 1986. At this conference, the participants chose from those attending and from the programs presented at the conference an "Instructor of the Year" Award.
The Texas Association of Fire Educators continued presenting the "Instructor of the Year" Award until 1993 when this Award was replaced with the creation of the George Hughes Instructor of the Year Award .
The Texas Association of Fire Educators presents the Earl Malone Training Officer of the Year each year at the Annual Instructors Conference.
